8123 Impact - Quarantine Karma

8123 Impact has always been about trying to make the world a better place. It’s about finding ways to use your time and talent to come together as a community and throw that passion into projects and causes that need it the most.

During this uncertain time, we feel that now is more important than ever before. Many awesome non-profit organizations have had their daily operations interrupted, and many new needs have arisen in the current climate.

What matters most to you?

As we spend time in quarantine, social distancing, and self isolation - we want to come together as a community (metaphorically speaking) and do our part to put more good out into the world.

We want to share you positive story with the 8123 Family! Have you been volunteering your time remotely while at home? Have you made a donation to a non-profit in your town to help during the pandemic? Are you putting your sewing skills to work to make masks for health care workers? Have you stepped up to foster an animal for your city’s shelter?

Tell us how you have been working to make the world a better place right now. Send an email with your story and photos to chelsea@eightyonetwentythree.com - we’ll share as many as we can from the 8123 social media accounts. Let’s spread the love!

IDEAS FOR WAYS YOU CAN HELP

  • Sign up to foster an animal for your local shelter or rescue group! Many animal shelters are being forced to close their doors to regular operations and are looking for people to take in animals as fosters! If you find yourself working from home, or waiting out this quarantine, why not sign up to foster and give a home to a homeless cat, dog or rabbit?

  • Volunteer remotely! Crisis centers, helplines, and related non-profits and services rely on volunteers to do what they do. You can become a volunteer with one of them and help staff a text line.

  • Get crafty! Make birthday cards for a local children’s hospital, get well cards for those battling addiction, or write inspirational letters to elderly folks in nursing homes. Quarantine is tough, but it’s even tougher when you are away from home or can’t have your usual visitors come by.

  • Make a donation! There are a ton of incredible causes out there. Some new ones now supporting people affected by COVID-19 directly or indirectly. Other unrelated charities have been put in financial stress by the outbreak.  Find one you are passionate about - and make a financial contribution if you are able to.

  • Donate blood! If you are healthy and able to, please consider donating blood to your local blood bank. In times like this especially, there is a great need as many people who would regularly donate are unable to.

  • Donate your talent! Have a skill you can teach virtually? Create an instructional video, you may just put a smile on someone’s face during this time of uncertainty.

  • Drop off food or supplies to someone in need! There are several organizations working to deliver food to those in self isolation. If you are well and able to, please consider volunteering to help others who aren’t able to.

  • Do you sew? Make masks for your local hospital or animal shelter. With the worldwide shortage of PPE, every bit helps!

  • Have an idea not on the list? Do it and share it with us!
