Give back to your local community alongside the 8123 Family with 8123 Impact. September 19th is World Cleanup Day, and we are asking the 8123 community to participate! Let’s come together (while apart) and participate in a neighborhood cleanup. So get your mask, gloves and bags ready!
Neighborhood cleanups are a great outdoor activity for you, your family or friends in your quarantine bubble and socially distanced small groups*! Please follow health and safety considerations before heading outside. Be sure to practice social distancing, frequent hand washing and any other local recommendations.
We want to encourage our community to recycle your waste with https://www.terracycle.com/! Terracycle offers many FREE programs in several countries to divert waste from landfill. Be sure to check out their website ahead of your cleanup and see the ways you can help reduce waste. There are several items you may pickup during your cleanup, such as cigarette butts, that can be mailed to Terracycle and recycled instead of sitting in a landfill! To protect your health and slow the spread of the coronavirus, please comply with your local guidelines. Suggestions to ensure a safe cleanup include:
Maintain a social distance of at least 6ft from everyone you may encounter.
Wear disposable gloves and dispose of them immediately after your cleanup.
Ensure that you wear a face mask. Remember to maintain your distance even when using a face mask.
Avoid touching litter directly.
Avoid touching your face.
Wash your hands thoroughly as soon as possible, and use hand sanitizer in the meantime if soap and water are unavailable.
If you are sick in any way, DO NOT go out for a cleanup.
Only pick up litter that is safe to handle and can be easily disposed of or recycled.
Use gloves and trash/recycling bags to prevent the spread of germs.
